Stat and Level Balance Empty Stat and Level Balance

Alright. So here's an idea. We want the games to be longer and more strategic, right? What about....changing up the stats a bit? Like....no more 1800-1900 Level 4s? I vote that stats overall are lowered. Promote the summoning of higher leveled monsters rather than just level 4 beatdown. How about something like...this?

Level 1: 0 - 300 ATK
Level 2: 300 - 600 ATK
Level 3: 600 - 1000 ATK
Level 4: 1000 - 1500 ATK
Level 5: 1600 - 1900 ATK
Level 6: 1900 - 2100 ATK
Level 7: 2100 - 2300 ATK
Level 8: 2300 - 2600 ATK
Level 9: 3000 - 3200 ATK
Level 10: 3200 - 3500 ATK
Level 11: 3500 - 3900 ATK
Level 12: 4000 ATK

Of course, there would be exceptions to the rules. I also say Level 9+ is actually used effectively. Level 9 requires 3 Tributes, Level 10+ requires 3 Tributes + Other gimmicks.

I really like both of those ideas. Also if DEF were scaled the same way, but a bit higher.

Given that the Level 4/6/8/10 have max ATK 1500/2100/2600, maybe have the max DEF to be +300 more than the max ATK shown there.

having huge defenders makes games so dull though.

t1 set big def
t2 big atk beaten by big def
t3 tribute summon (or a standard big normal summon) or just continue walling

it puts the game very quickly into atk vs def and sets it like that for a decent amount of time - roleshifting should be more fluid and managed by skillful play rather than big stat big booties

What if the defensive monsters had effects and did things ("roleshifting") other than just being fat, boring walls?

And if not, what is the alternative? DEF scaled equal to ATK?

Keep DEF below ATK for most monsters, to use them not as walls but as a kind of barricade which eventually is "broken" and monsters with abnormally large DEF either are forced into ATK pos, or can only use their effs in ATK. Ideas.

wellllll if we take a look at the op, a defensive wall at level 4 could be 400 points over an offensive level 4 (say 1500 to 1900) - then when we consider that the upper bound for a level 5 atk is also 1900 then we have a problem that a level 5 tribute summon is strictly worse than a level 4 set monster - the reward for defensively drawn out games becomes much higher than actually playing offensively (also consider the neg 1 of tribute summoning here). at that point if both players assume a defensive nature to their deckbuilding then we have flat games with little fluidity

so for one, the gap must be breachable within reason - if you are tribute summoning an offensive monster you should be able to clear a defensive monster that was normal set (traps and shit not taken into account obv) - this gives more motivation to include a tribute monster in your deck and the ability to roleshift during a game by taking a directly offensive approach

So would you say the Max ATK stat on that list should be higher? Or Max DEF be lower?

I also say that Vanilla monsters should have higher stats than the ones posted here to compensate for not having effects. I'm not talking about 2000 ATK Vanillas, but maybe instead of 1500 the Max Vanilla ATK could be 1700-1800?

max def needs to be answerable by standard(ish) tribute summons, like maybe 200 over max atk

i was thinking the upper atk/def boundaries are pushed a little higher, to get out of slow games a little faster.

like 1900 upper defense w/o good effects 1700/1800 for upper atk w/o good effects (assuming level 4 of course)
